NURSERY

The choices you make for your child’s education are some of the most important decisions you will ever make. So why choose Loddon Infant School Nursery?

  • We offer a friendly and fun environment where children are treated as individuals.
  • We work in partnership with parents to ensure the best for every child.
  • We have a highly qualified team to provide the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum in a relaxed and happy setting so that every child makes good progress.
  •  At our last Ofsted Inspection it was reported that the effectiveness of leadership and management in the Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery and Reception Classes) is outstanding.

In recent years pre-school education has become more and more important as research has shown that children learn more in their first five years than at any other times in their lives.  From the age of 3 to 5 years children develop, learn and grow, rapidly encountering new experiences all the time. We aim to extend their skills and develop their confidence. Our activities are well planned and centre around play, providing a challenging yet fun way of learning. The children extend their language and thinking, and this helps with their progress.

Our Nursery is staffed by a highly qualified and experienced Early Years teacher and teaching assistant. Together they plan a stimulating, play-based curriculum which providing a challenging yet fun way of learning, encouraging children to interact with their peers and develop an enjoyment and curiosity for learning.

We recognize that children are at different stages of progress and development, and activities are planned to take this into account.  The children benefit from a well-resourced indoor and outdoor area where there are opportunities for play through the six areas of the EYFS curriculum. The play areas in the Foundation Unit all have a purpose and are carefully structured to provide as much learning as possible. The outdoor environment too, is planned with equal consideration.   Our aim is to lay the foundation for later learning, promoting positive attitudes during these formative years.

As part of the Infant School, our Nursery has the advantage of being involved in a wider learning community, with increased opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

The links with the Reception classes in school promote a smooth and stress free transition to statutory schooling.  Through carefully planned interaction and appropriate shared experiences, the children know their teachers, their peers and are familiar with the learning environment.  Routines across the Foundation Stage are similar, thus promoting a confident transition for every child.  As learning experiences are also planned jointly across the Foundation Stage by both Nursery and Reception staff, children’s learning is continuous and progress is consistent.  Assessment based on shared understanding ensures that every child receives good learning experiences, whatever their ability and talents.
