Inspiring new Early Years learning spaces opened

Pupils, staff and families at Loddon Primary Federation are celebrating the opening of newly refurbished Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) facilities, designed to provide children with the very best start to their educational journey through creative, play-based learning.

The new EYFS area, where the school’s Nursery and Reception classes are based, has been developed to introduce children to learning through play, with a wide range of exciting new indoor and outdoor activities available for them to explore.

Nursery sessions are led by a fully qualified teacher, and include opportunities for enjoying messy play, getting hands on with interactive digital equipment and spending time in the calming zone which is dedicated to reading and telling stories.

The Nursery proudly supports local families, providing access to high-quality childcare for children aged 3 and above in the Loddon community and surrounding area. Funded places are available and applications are welcome throughout the year.

Next door in the Reception class, children who started their first full-time year at school this September have been the first to benefit from their own new facilities with dedicated spaces designed to support creativity, early literacy development and imaginative play.

The spacious and sheltered new EYFS play area extends the fun and learning outside, offering all-weather, supervised activities including climbing, water play, a large sand pit and a track equipped with trikes.

Loddon Primary Federation is part of The Active Learning Trust and the project forms part of the Trust’s ongoing commitment to providing high-quality learning environments that support children at every stage of their education.

“We have been delighted to see the excitement on children's faces as they explore their new learning environment.

Every aspect of the redevelopment has been designed to spark curiosity, creativity and confidence, helping our youngest learners thrive from the very beginning of their educational journey. We know these facilities will benefit generations of children to come."
Sara El Oakley, Headteacher

"High-quality early years education plays a vital role in children's development and long-term success. This investment reflects our commitment to creating exceptional learning environments that inspire and support every child to achieve their potential.

Congratulations to the team at Loddon and everyone across the Trust who helped bring this exciting project to life."
Chris Everard, Chief Operating Officer of The Active Learning Trust
